To the Editor, Mike Kenney, master of the facade, master of the ‘instant parking lot’, prevails. Everyday, hikers pay Mike Kenney to ‘park’ their cars, and assuage their tormented souls by walking through my ‘living room’, I mean, my ‘sugar bush’, I mean, Wabanaki Nation/Abenaki Tribe preColumbian ‘sugar-bush’, possibly where Maple Sugar was discovered that spring day centuries ago by Abenaki Woman cooking a haunch of meat? Go figure! Basically, Mike owns the right side of his current Mt. Kinsman trail with 50′ wide ROW +/-1000′ to his land-locked Lot 54-E (‘twice stolen land) across my Lot 54-D, on the left side of the Kinsman Trail/mile long access to the National Forest. How about a little respect for privacy. Please Boycott Mike Kenney’s illegitimate trailhead! In recent conversations with Dr. Eric White, ‘hiker’ extraordinaire, (AT, Pacific Rim Trail, Continental Divide Trail) of the White Family Trust, owner of the legitimate Mt. Kinsman Trailhead, insinuated he would not object to the ‘locals’ (locals being ‘humans’) using the trailhead and trail (for free). To understand the ‘Kinsman Trail Betrayal’ we have to go back to 2007-09 when Mike Kenney, Dr. Eric White, neighbor/abutter and I, along with Jennifer Bernett of the WMNF, finishing the job Mike Kenney started, laided out the upper half of the new trail with the ‘unobtrusive’ trailhead. We will call it the ‘Turtle Ridge’ relocation. The problem was and is, the trail itself was only half relocated, intentionally or not, by Mike Kenney. The upper half, the degraded half, was ignored. Did he just want to get the old trailhead out of his hair, what with trailhead parking competing with his ‘construction’ company ‘rolling stock’, or maybe even looking to someday monetize the trailhead? Next thing you know, through “partition”, Mike Kenney creates (with Jo Miller Kenney), Lot 54-E/Easton Tax map #1, (‘twice stolen land’, once from me and once from Native Americans, that’s a whole other story) So the seriously degraded upper portion of the Mike Kenney ‘town-line’ trail with six water crossings, through the middle of a sensitive drainage system, remains to this day, as an environmental disaster. Turns out, Mike is adamant, he will not relocate this upper part 100-200 yards to the south onto good ground, reason being, ‘interference’ with his extensive mountain biking trail system. Bumped into Mike yesterday and asked him about the arrangement, if any, he had with the Whites, regarding the use of the Mt. Kinsman trailhead for his mountain biking system? Mike answers something to the effect , he shut everything down, E-bikes are ruining the mountain biking sport? Now, with this the case, if Mike Kenney should kindly accept the ‘Turtle Ridge’ relocation, without any lame excuses, (like interfering with his bike trail system) everything should settle down. The Town of Easton Conservation Commission can take a leadership role in creating the ‘Turtle Ridge’ relocation route, the upper half of the Kinsman Trail on private property, laid out in 2007-09, by myself, Eric White and WMNF agent Jennifer Burnett. Now, Mike Kenney is a member of the Conservation Committee, what do ya know! The Kinsman trail unwritten ROW has always found its way across our private property, but needs to be nudged or even relocated sometimes. Mike Kenney, our own Machiavellian, (I’m holding him accountable for three ‘felony trespassing’ issues) exploiting the legacy of our father for personal gain, with destructive shameful results, literally and figuratively. Just take a look at ‘Tamarack’ now compared to a generation ago. We don’t need to feed the insidious petroculture, the toxic misogynistic culture of fossil fuels, by building more parking lots. Thank-you for your attention on this confusing issue/remember boycott ‘townline trailhead’ (show-down this evening at Easton Town Hall-master of the Facade versus master of the manure pile) William Kenney Easton 603 991-0789
